Unis’tot’en Summer Caravan: Urgent callout from No Pipelines crew‏

The Caravan to Unis’tot’en Camp starts in just over four weeks. Our goal is to send 30 keen volunteers plus food and supplies for 150 people to support the No Pipelines blockade in Northern BC. The indigenous camp stands in the path of three pipelines, including Enbridge Northern Gateway.

Please consider joining the volunteer crew or sponsoring these hard-working young people this summer!

The big Caravan to Unis’to’ten Camp and the No Pipelines action training is coming up July 6-14. We expect the Warriors Alliance and the Secwepemc Women Warriors will be presenting again, along with other grassroots activists.

150-200 people will work on building the new Healing Lodge, cooking, looking after kids, and setting up tents and fire pits.

We have a 48-passenger school bus, two drivers, a giant wall tent, camping gear galore, and some food. We’re looking for Coleman coolers, more food, kitchen supplies, and funds for the caravan and the camp. The whole wishlist is here.

Victoria folks: Come down to the donation drop-off and bus-loading fest on Sunday July 5 in Fernwood. Lemonade, cookies, and high fives all round. Vancouver folks: Meet the caravan at 11 am July 6 near Commercial Drive. Send a message for info.

The bus convoy leaves from Victoria and Vancouver on Monday July 6 with stops in Williams Lake, Chasm Provincial Park, Prince George, and Burns Lake. This is an amazing opportunity to meet indigenous and non-indigenous activists and support the people who are blocking Big Oil’s access to the coast.

This is an urgent call for supporters to get on the bus or contribute to this solidarity work. Some friends donate $500, others give $5. Everyone helps and every dollar goes to the Caravan and the Camp. Donate on our Fundrazr page and we’ll send a thank-you gift. 🙂

Our goal is to sign up 30 qualified volunteers, plus raising enough for travel, food and supplies for the camp. I’m asking everyone who has visited the camp or made a pledge in the past four years to take part by joining the crew or sponsoring a keen volunteer. Please see the Caravan page or phone me at 250-813-3569 day or night for info.

As you know, the Caravan gets no government or corporate funding, no Big Green sponsorship, and we’re just a handful of unpaid volunteers. We’re proud to have hundreds and thousands of supporters across Turtle Island and worldwide. Thank you for rocking this grassroots campaign for four whole years!

Courage and love to all,

Zoe, Vancouver Island Community Forest Action Network

  2. Great post! This caravan seems like such a great idea. I have a few friends who might be interested in becoming some of your keen volunteers. I’m going to refer them over. Thanks again!
