Mary Dawn Vickers died unexpectedly on November 4 of a brain hemorrhage. Mary was an amazing Heiltsuk activist, parent, and contributor to many communities. She was fierce, funny, loving, extraordinarily generous, and never afraid of a confrontation with power. She stood up for wild salmon and in defense of Indigenous fisheries, lands and waters; and also in support of safe consumption services and against criminalization of Indigenous resistance and people living in poverty. She is greatly missed.
In consultation with the Vickers family, Mary`s friends are raising money to help with the family`s expenses. Direct e-transfers can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org or through this page. All funds raised will go directly to the Vickers family.
