Mary Vickers, Heiltsuk woman warrior.
Mary Dawn Vickers died unexpectedly on November 4 of a brain hemorrhage. Mary was an amazing Heiltsuk activist, parent, and contributor to many communities. She was fierce, funny, loving, extraordinarily generous, and never afraid of a confrontation with power. She stood up for wild salmon and in defense of Indigenous fisheries, lands and waters; and also in support of safe consumption services and against criminalization of Indigenous resistance and people living in poverty. She is greatly missed.
In consultation with the Vickers family, Mary`s friends are raising money to help with the family`s expenses. Direct e-transfers can be sent to vickersfamilia@gmail.com or through this page. All funds raised will go directly to the Vickers family.

Thank you for contributing what you can to honour Mary and express love and gratitude for the ways that she touched so many lives.
If she died unexpectedly, of a brain hemorrhage, I would ask for investigation into her death. Remember the dead birds.
