Matriarch Camp —- Occupation of B.C. Premier John Horgan’s Office on Lekwungen territory, in solidarity with ‘Namgis and Musgamagw Dzawada’enuxw salmon protectors who are occupying open-net Fish Farms operated by the Norwegian company Marine Harvest at Midsummer Island and Swanson Island in the Broughton Archipelago. Indigenous consent has never been given to these Atlantic salmon farms. Removal of the fish farms has been requested by the Nations on whose territories they illegally operate.

After 30 years of peaceful opposition, indigenous nations of western “Canada” have had enough and have begun occupations of illegal fish farms to disrupt their operations. A call has been made to occupy the offices of the ruling New Democratic Party (NDP) of “British Columbia” to help put an end to the harmful practice of fish farms, that endangers the local salmon populations. Ten tiny houses are about to go head-to-head with a giant proposed oil pipeline. In what some area already dubbing the next ‘Standing Rock’, Kanahus Manuel, an activist of the Secwepemc Nation is spearheading a team of builders and volunteers from all over North America to construct tiny homes with the aim of halting the expansion of the Kinder Morgan’s Trans Mountain pipeline which would run through 518 kilometres of Secwepemc Territory.
