Esquimalt First Nations chief charged with cruelty over dog’s ruptured eyeball

An Esquimalt First Nations Chief and his wife have been charged with animal cruelty after allegedly letting their Shih tzu’s eye infection go untreated, causing the dog’s eyeball to rupture, according to BC SPCA.
Chief Andrew Thomas and Mary Anne Thomas failed to provide “necessary veterinary care” for the dog, named Chewy, the organization said.
