About 5,000 marchers have gathered for a vocal but peaceful protest at the corner of Flinders and Swanston streets in central Melbourne to protest against the proposed closure of up to 150 remote communities in Western Australia.
The marchers, some carrying gum leaves, were led by mounted police to the intersection near Federation Square.
The protestors carried signs reading: “Stop moving Aboriginal people on”, “Racism is a lifestyle choice” and “Close the gap, not the communities”. Read the rest of this entry
