Chile: Two Arson Attacks on Logging Trucks in the Province of Arauco, Wallmapu

Two arson attacks were carried out early Thursday morning at various points in the Araucania Region.
The first took place in at the Mariposas Estate, located on Highway CH181that connects the townships of Curacautín with Victoria, in the Province of Malleco.
According to police reports, the unknown suspects entered the area and lit fire to a shed that contained logging equipment.
Guards confronted the suspects, which gave way to shots being fired, although police assert there were no injuries reported. Read the rest of this entry

Arson Attacks in Wallmapu unleash Government and Police Hysteria

At least three sabotage attacks against the Chilean occupation have occurred in the last week including the arson of a private get-away cottage in Lleu-Lleu; a corporate management house in Vilcun; and a logging encampment in Lumaco. This has unleashed the hysterical reaction of the Chilean government and the police apparatus in the area, as well as the rage of the corporate elite have begun to criticize their own government for the failure of repressive policies against the Mapuche movement. Awareness of repression should never be turned into a list of cases and prisoners. Those who struggle must understand repression strategically. If the essence of repression is isolation, this means intentionally formulating our responses to overcome that isolation, both by connecting them to the lines of our ongoing struggle, and analyzing and thwarting the particular mechanisms through which the State seeks to isolate us.
